Environmentalists in California are very concerned about the future of the Monarch Butterfly. Every year millions of butterflies migrate from the United States to Mexico. Unfortunately, the population of the species has decreased by 86% in the span of a few decades.

Monarch butterflies contribute to the health of our planet. While feeding on nectar, they pollinate many types of flowers. Butterflies are also an important food source for birds, small animals, and other insects.
