How to use the verb “to want”
We use the verb "to want" in 3 scenarios:
1) Nouns
I want a coffee
I want something to happen.
2) Pronouns
I want it.
I want him to dance.
I want her to speak.
3) “To” — infinitives
I want to go dancing.
I want to read.
I want to ride on a train.
Beware! You never use “that” with “to want”. See here for more practice.
I wantthat it goes well--> I want it to go well.I wantthat he does his homework--> I want him to do his homework.I wantthat my friends call--> I want my friends to call.
For the preposition “that”, you could use verbs like “to hope” and “to wish”
I hope that it goes well.
I wish that he does his homework.
