In English, when talking about jobs and professions, you have to include the indefinite articles “a” and “an” for singular nouns. For plural nouns, you don’t need to include the articles.

  • I am a doctor. —> It’s different than other languages. For example, in Spanish you’d say “Soy doctor”.

  • She is a journalist.

  • He is a director.

When the nouns are plural, you don't include an article.

  • They are doctors.

  • They are journalists.

  • We are directors.
